“As you drive through the mountains into the very heart of the glen, you have the sense of entering another world. You feel so small, because the mountains are so huge and so close. There’s a deep brooding majesty here – a sense of being completely at one with nature.”
Scott McCombie | Senior Ranger and NNR Manager at Glencoe National Nature Reserve
From Rannoch Moor, the sight of Buachaille Etive Mòr rising majestically in the distance is utterly breathtaking. This mass of rock, thrown up through volcanic fault lines hundreds of millions of years ago, is the gatepost to Glencoe. It’s the point where the glen narrows, where mountains tower over the pass running through them, where adventures begin and where time just seems to stand still.
