Dedicate a view, in memory of your loved one, and help us to protect Scotland’s most treasured places for generations to come.
By dedicating a view in memory of someone special, you can make them a custodian of one of Scotland’s most special places.
From wild rolling moorlands, rugged mountains and towering sea stacks teeming with seabirds, to fairytale castles, ancient oak forests and lush tropical gardens perched on a cliff edge, Scotland is home to the most extraordinary places where special moments are shared and unforgettable memories are made.
At the National Trust for Scotland, we are custodians of all the special places in our care, and we promise to look after them now and for generations to come. By dedicating a view in memory of someone special, you will make them a custodian too, helping us to conserve and protect the place they loved.

The northern peak of Buachaille Etive Mòr in Glencoe with River Coupall in the foreground
From Rannoch Moor, the sight of Buachaille Etive Mòr rising majestically in the distance is utterly breathtaking. This mass of rock, thrown up through volcanic fault lines hundreds of millions of years ago, is the gatepost to Glencoe. It’s the point where the glen narrows, where mountains tower over the pass running through them, where adventures begin and where time just seems to stand still.

Inverewe
The Walled Garden at Inverewe, looking out across Loch Ewe and towards Beinn Airigh Charr
An unexpected paradise of botanical curiosities, perched on the rugged coastline of Wester Ross, Inverewe is the very definition of ‘gardening on the edge’. Packed with incredible plants, towering trees and sudden glimpses of spectacular wildlife, from the Walled Garden to the sheltered woodland it’s a joy to explore and a treasure to remember; a place in which to be completely at one with nature and with yourself.
The village bay on the island of Hirta in the St Kilda archipelago, looking over the beach, historic cleitean and houses
The archipelago of St Kilda has been described as the ‘islands at the edge of the world’ and captures all that’s wild and wonderful about Scotland. Flung in the storm-tossed waters of the Atlantic Ocean, 66km west of Benbecula, this most remote part of the British Isles was once home to an extraordinary way of human life, is now a dual UNESCO World Heritage Site and is now home to the most important seabird breeding colonies in all of north-west Europe.

How to dedicate a view
Choose your view
The views we have chosen capture the essence and extraordinary diversity of Scotland’s most treasured places. Please choose the view that means most to you and the loved one whose life you’d like to celebrate.
Make your donation
Decide how much you would like to donate to dedicate a view to your loved one. All donations over £100 will automatically include a print of your view to keep or give to friends and family.
Dedicate your view
Tell us the name of the loved one in whose memory you would like to dedicate a view. If you choose, you can also create a dedication message.
Share your dedication
When you add a virtual dedication to our Dedicated Views page, you’ll be able to share this with family and friends, as well as visiting your dedication again and again.
Your dedication helps us to conserve and protect
It's thanks to people like you, who support the work of the National Trust for Scotland, that we can conserve and protect the special places in our care, now and for generations to come.
So many happy memories are made in the extraordinary places we look after. By supporting our work in the memory of your loved one, you will create an everlasting connection between them and the place that meant so much to them.
At the National Trust for Scotland, we are custodians of some of Scotland’s most treasured places, and by dedicating a view, your loved one will become a custodian too. Thank you for making – and cherishing – special memories with us and for supporting our work in memory of your loved one.
Frequently asked questions
If I dedicate a view, can I scatter ashes in that special place?
Although we would like to say yes, the answer is more complex. In many cases, the scattering of ashes can be detrimental to the biodiversity of our places and we would ask you to contact us first by emailing fundraising@nts.org with your request.
If I dedicate a view, can I place a physical memorial in that special place too?
We know how much placing a plaque or a bench in a treasured place – or planting a tree – can mean, however, we are simply not able to fulfil the volume of requests we receive. We hope that Dedicate a View will provide a meaningful alternative to placing a physical memorial at the places we care for, as well as supporting our teams to protect and preserve those special spaces and places for generations to come.
When I dedicate a view, can I share my dedication with family and friends?
Yes! Your dedication will live on in the ‘Dedicated Views’ page on our website. It will also appear on the pack you receive in the post.
Will I be able to visit the place where I’ve chosen to dedicate a view?
Yes, and we really hope that you will. All the special places we’ve chosen as views are open to visitors. Please check our website for details, however, as not all places are open throughout the year.
Can I donate to receive more than one print of the view I have chosen?
Of course. You can dedicate a view as many times as you like to receive our packs and prints. If you’d like any further information on making multiple dedications, please email fundraising@nts.org with your request.
Will you be introducing more views that can be dedicated?
We have chosen our current Dedicate a View places based on feedback from our supporters. As time goes on, we hope to introduce more views so if you have a suggestion for a place that’s particularly meaningful to you, please email fundraising@nts.org to let us know.
